I was a hold out on this show for the first two seasons of it. I must admit, it was very engaging and not at all what I had expected. The rumors on this show was all about teen suicide and negative in many ways. I didn’t get that at all. Obviously, that is the overarching theme but truly this is a high school drama more than anything.
13 Reasons has characters you are rooting for, characters you hate and plenty other that are all over the spectrum. It’s your classic high school show with the 21st century addition of the power of social media, texting and how the digital world is affecting our youth in ways we have never scene before.
In fact, I would argue 13 Reasons is actually a great tool for leaders in our grade schools, colleges and all youth programs to use as a guide for what to look for and issues to help solve. The world is very different now and our you this being challenged mentally and socially in an entirely new way.
13 Reasons was a real eye opener for me as to the challenges of growing up today in the digital and social media world.
FYI, they just announced the launch of their final season coming out very soon.
