It follows a young airbender, who happens to be the last of his kind, who also happened to be frozen in an iceberg for 100 years while the world tore itself apart. As the Avatar it's his job to master all four elements and bring peace to the world.
This was one of my favorite series growing up. I thought it was funny, and the action was cool. But after going back and watching it as an adult I have to say it is a masterpiece.
The series was funny, and had comedy for all ages. The world is also so unique that you can only really compare it to the likes of Harry Potter and Star Wars. The action was also great with all the elements clashing against each other in such an awesome way, but what really set it apart was the storytelling.
The amount of depth put into these characters was amazing. Each and every character feels so unique, and they all have some type of past they need to overcome.
However the best part of this series was the relationship between Aang and Zuko. Aang is our hero while Zuko is the bad guy, but they had one of the best relationships I've ever seen comparable to Batman and Joker or Professor X and Magneto. The two were so uniquely different while also being so similar that there comes a point where you root for both. And Zuko is one of the best Anti-Heroes you can find. He's so conflicted and complicated yet you can't help but root for him.
This is a series very much about it's great characters, but the plot is also one that sparks wonder. A unique world just open to be explored. Avatar is an amazingly funny, beautiful, and action packed series that you'll love as a kid and love even more as an adult. I'm not ashamed to say as an adult I cried...more than once. Avatar: The Last Airbender is nothing short of a masterpiece.
