A Steampunk fantasy with mysteries crawling around every corner Carnival Row is a lot more than just rainbows and faeries.

This is a very dark steampunk fantasy with faeries and mythical creatures, and to say it surprised me would be an understatement. I believe the last time I watched a good steampunk movie or show was Hugo in 2011. Here they fully embrace it and create a beautiful world.

It follows a human detective Philo(Orlando Bloom) who is trying to solve a string of gruesome murders as he rekindles a dangerous relationship with a faerie Vignette Stonemoss(Cara Delevingne).

Amazon Prime's Carnival Row was a fantasy noir romance series that was really intriguing. From the first episode you're instantly drawn into this magical world. There's so much to explore and the production value and world building was next level. It's grounded in the same sense of Game of Thrones. Add in the metaphors and you're left with a very real feeling.

The series also did an excellent job with the story. Mystery wise it kept me hooked from the very first episode with suspense throughout. Overall Carnival Row was a very mature fantasy that explored a lot of themes that might hit a little too close to home.

In the end Carnival Row proved to be a thrilling fantasy that will not be going anywhere soon.
