When you’re ready for a break from true crime or dramatic docu-series, The Bold Type can step right in. I love watching the friendship between the three protagonists, Sutton, Jane, and Kat. The girls work in separate departments at “Scarlet” Magazine but always seem to convene in the fashion closet to discuss the daily drama. The series can definitely fall into the soap opera category at times, but there’s just something about the characters that keeps me wanting to watch. It could be the glamour of the publishing industry, or the quick wit from each of the girls, but the Bold Type is one not to miss.
I usually compare The Bold Type as Sex and the City’s younger more progressive sister. New York City acts as a main character and backdrop for the show. The show does not shy away from any topic from Kat’s bisexuality to Sutton’s strained family relationships. The girls go through plenty of tough situations in the show, but the magazine and their friendship always brings them right back to the fashion closet.
