The Spy

Sacha Baron Cohen can act! Yes, I said it and it’s true.  This is not a comedy.  The Spy is intense, exciting and high level acting all around.  Based on a true story, Sacha Baron Cohen plays Eli Cohen an Israeli spy that goes undercover as a Syrian to uncover various Syrian plots against the Israelis for Mossad.

From the moment this mini-series (only 6 episodes) starts you are immediately drawn in.  It does a little tease move where it starts at the end and then goes back to the beginning.  I personally love that move.  Eli Cohen gives up his entire personal life for this mission.  Years and years helping and uncovering secrets.  Each episode gets more and more intense as you are constantly nervous they will figure him out.  At the same time Eli Cohen is also quite entertaining as a Syrian bachelor and trader. Sacha Baron Cohen is incredible at this role.  He is so believable.  He looks the part and handles it so well.  So many great scenes but I don’t want to spoil, so just watch this.  You can bang this out in 2-3 days easily.
