At the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois many diverse people all came together with a unified belief and cause. Who knew that they would be unified by much more than that too.

In the thick of the 60's struggle between the government and the people in regards to race, war and so much more the Democratic convention became the place where protestors planned to ensure that their voice was heard. Leaders of groups; Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, David Dellinger, Tom Hayden, Rennie Davis, John Froines, and Lee Weiner—charged by the US federal government with conspiracy, inciting to riot, and other charges related to anti-Vietnam War and other protests . Bobby Seale, the eighth charged, had his proceedings declared a mistrial, dropping the number of defendants from eight to seven. (He was a Black Panther).

This movie is written by Aaron Sorkin, from West Wing, A Few Good Men and so many other incredible TV shows and movies. You can see and enjoy the Sorkin-esque dialect in this time piece. The cast in strong too with Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jeremy Strong, and Michael Keaton. There are many other actors that are recognizable as well.

I had no knowledge of this story but between it being a Sorkin product and that cast I went for it. I learned a ton and also really enjoyed the story and performances. I definitely recommend this if you are looking for a good movies that is based on a real story in US history.
