Anyone who loves comedy has heard of the legend of John Belushi but there is so much more to this man that just comedy.

This documentary on Showtime is done in a really creative way. The producers of this show have taken previously recorded interviews with all of John's friends, his wife, brother, mom and more. They also use never seen before pictures, videos and then a nice animation to fill in the blanks where they had sound but no video.

Growing up in the late 70's and 80's I was unfortunately a little too young to appreciate all that John Belushi brought to the world. At one point he was on the #1 TV Show, Movie and had the Blues Brothers band touring the country. He was red hot but that wasn't enough. His Saturday Night Live performances in the early years are epic and were the talk of the country every week after they aired. You can find them all on Youtube.

As with so many comedians over the years the time between performances were dangerous lulls. Also your persona in public doesn't represent who you really are, yet everyone that meets you wants you to be "that" guy.

All of these variables became overwhelming for John when he was doing drugs and drinking. Sadly the drugs and alcohol won in the end and robbed John, his family, his friends and his fans of what would have been decades of incredible performances on TV and the Movies. We lost this man way too early.
