In 1986, the space shuttle Challenger was going to make history. All of America and the world were watching with anticipation and excitement. We just didn't know what kind of history was going to be made.

The Challenger was set to take off with the first non astronaut, a teacher from New Hampshire, named Christa McAuliffe, who made it through a rigorous interview process to beat out thousands of other teachers to get the chance to teach classes to students from space. She was the nicest and most caring person. All around just a really great person, role model and personality for this. If you were a child in school in January of 1986 you knew all about this.

Sadly, this journey did not go as planned and unfortunately it ended in sadness and horror. This crew of 7 highly qualified people, family members, friends and more went up in smoke in an instant and left all of us devastated, confused and wondering what happened.

This documentary, executive produced by JJ Abrams, dives deep into the history of the Shuttle, the crew and their background and families and then of course that fateful day and the exploration that went on from the Reagan administration, NASA and everyone else to make sure we learn how and why this happened.

This was extremely powerful and brought back emotions from the aftermath and sadness in 1986. If you remember this even, this limited series is really helpful in explaining every aspect of this. We still miss this crew very much and that sadness still exists.
