While the storyline of “wealthy to poor” has been played out over and over, Schitt’s Creek absolutely knocks it out of the park. After the first few episodes, you fall madly in love with each of their characters and their nuances. From David’s distinct eye rolls, to Alexis’s classic “Ew,David!” proclamation, the quotable lines are endless. The plots are simplistic, the storyline is nothing new, but there is a charm to this show that has caught the attention of so many people. It’s hard to describe what makes this show so special. It somehow combines humor and love in a way that will make you want the Rose family to adopt you immediately.
The residents of Schitt’s Creek have no idea how to handle these fancy folk from the big city, but they quickly accept the Rose family as one of their own. I find myself imitating the characters on a daily basis, it’s just one of those shows that stick with you as you go about your daily life.Eugene Levy and his son Daniel Levy produce the show and also play father and son. Catherine O’Hara steps in as Moria Rose, the fabulous, wig collecting, mom of the family. There are some serious comedic powerhouses in this show, and it shows. I quickly fell in love with each character and desperately wished they hadn’t ended the show after their successful six-year-run.
