What if I told you that a guy from NY went into the deepest darkest parts of the Vietnam War, as a civilian, just to bring his hometown friends a beer. Would you believe me? Well it's true!
This true story has been dramatized and made into a movie on Apple Plus staring Zac Efron as Chickie, a local NYC guy in 1967 who is lost at home and feels his friends in the war need to know that people still care about them. He somehow finds a way to get on a military ship that over two months will get him to Saigon. From there he's on his own and finds a variety of ways to find and deliver beers to all his friends, that are still alive.
This movies isn't just a joke or silly at all. Chickie learns a lot more about the war and the realities of what is happening and how it is improperly being portrayed in the media to the people at home This moves was fun but also heartwarming at the same time. It's a quick enjoyable watch for the entire family.
The movie has supporting roles from Russell Crowe and Bill Murray.
